Conference Book Now Available!

Over 315 attendees from cities throughout the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and England joined us in Minneapolis for Creating a New Craft Culture: The 2009 American Craft Council Conference.

Our conference attendees represented a range of professions including architects, designers, collectors, educators, writers, museum professionals, students, makers and retailers. The enthusiasm and thoughtfulness that defined the sessions and conversations served as a rousing affirmation of the vitality of craft on professional and creative levels. If the dialogue that took place during our two day conference is any indication, our collective present and future is in very good hands.

We’ve gathered reports on each conference session, audio podcasts, photos and original blog contributions to help keep the conversation going. Check out our new Presentations section for podcasts and more!

Read the commentary, join the dialogue.

"In our world and in our time, we are deeply in need of the values which come under the head of craftsmanship. I would venture to say that society today is more in need of these values than any other thing."

Charles Eames, First Annual Conference of American Craftsmen, Asilomar, 1957

"Truly, it was impressive to see the ballroom filled to capacity for practically every session. And it was energizing and inspiring to hear attendees ask meaningful questions of the speakers and to hear their conversations between sessions with each other that were motivated by what they had heard and learned."

Lani Duke, Board Chair, American Craft Council
