"Discovering the Chattahoochee Valley" is an exhibition of large-scale silk paintings by René Shoemaker. Shoemaker, of Athens, Georgia, has created site-specific works about the area. The artist solicited responses from the Columbus-area community through social media to decide which buildings and locations could be used in the paintings. The project sough to discover what makes the city and valley unique to its citizens and visitors, including elements such as patterns in the landscape, memories of the residents, favorite locations, and overlooked neighborhoods.
