Fifty years ago this month the American Craft Council opened "Cookies and Breads: The Baker's Art" at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City. The holiday show, which ran from November 19, 1965, to January 9, 1966, featured a vast array of traditional and modern pretzels, gingerbread, bread dolls, and other sculptured sweets from around the globe.
