Digital Collections Project Specialist
Reports to: Archivist
Classification: Part‐time, hourly; grant funded
Salary: 22$/hour
Location: Minneapolis, MN. Onsite position with the option for some remote work hours.
Hours: 15–20 hours/week for 6 months, not to exceed 400 hours total. Working hours are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting in January 2025.

Position summary.
The American Craft Council (ACC) Library is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated project specialist to work on a grant‐funded digitization project under the supervision of the ACC librarian.
The National Endowment for the Humanities, through its Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant, is providing funding for the digitization and processing of digital assets of American Craft magazine and newsletter of the American Craft Council (ACC). The primary responsibility of the intern will be uploading digitized issues of American Craft magazine and newsletters to the ACC Digital Collection and writing descriptive metadata using the library’s content management tool (CONTENTdm). The internship is a great opportunity to experience working with digital collections within an art research library.
Responsibilities.
As our organization and the fields we are part of evolve, so may this role. These duties may change as ACC’s leadership identifies the need at any time.
- Upload digital assets into the ACC instance of CONTENTdm.
- Prescribe descriptive metadata and manage content in the ACC’s CONTENTdm digital repository.
- Create transcriptions of text using OCR capture from PDF files. Ingest transcriptions into CONTENTdm
- Make use of controlled vocabulary resources to enter data into the important subject data fields.
- Perform fixity checks on archived digital assets.
Desired qualifications.
This position is a good fit for someone who has:
- Junior or senior in an undergraduate or graduate level library science, museum studies or art history program, or a recent graduate.
- Experience using controlled vocabularies and/or tagging in data creation.
- Preferred coursework in archival studies and/or experience working in an archives or library setting.
- Familiarity or experience with CONTENTdm or other digital asset management system.
- Familiarity with metadata schemas such as Dublin Core desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Preferred interest or background in contemporary craft and craft history.
ACC is willing to teach about:
