Strohschnieder started as a stone sculptor and has worked as a conservator in five countries and in a diverse range of organizations. She has continued to explore a range of materials in her artistic practice and more recently has focused on jewelry making. Her bold designs incorporate traditional jewelry making techniques with non-traditional methods such as crocheting, knitting and weaving, and often include kinetic or surprise elements.
