Susan Dwyer, Cutaway Dish

I might not get the white Christmas I’ve been dreaming of this year, but these cheery vessels and platters by ceramist Susan Dwyer of Up In The Air Somewhere are so sweet and nostalgic, I’m almost satisfied without it. Inspired by the industrial architectural landscape of Chicago, Dwyer’s lovely hand-built pieces are crisp and clean as newly fallen snow—either the real kind or the lacy paper flakes echoed in some of her cut-out designs. I love how she accents her white and black neutrals with the soft pink of wind-nipped cheeks and the bright mustard of a child’s wool coat, plus just a touch of jingle bell gold.

Can't get enough craft? Neither can we. Heck Yes Craft is a series of visual blog posts with a simple mission: to show off amazing work. Come back on Fridays for more.
