About this opportunity
The Workhouse Arts Center invites artists to apply to our Studio Artist Program, located on our vibrant 55-acre campus in Lorton, Virginia. The Workhouse is home to a dynamic community of working artists across a wide range of disciplines, with five buildings of dedicated studio spaces supporting creative production, collaboration, and public engagement.
Artists working in ceramics and glass benefit from exceptional shared facilities designed for serious makers. Our campus includes a full kiln yard and specialized studio resources that support both emerging and established artists working in these mediums.
Studio Artists have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work through our on-campus galleries and public programs, connecting directly with collectors and visitors throughout the year.
In addition to studio space, artists may opt into a $25/month studio facilities fee, which provides access to shared resources including studio equipment, the kiln yard, and bulk purchasing options for materials, helping artists reduce costs while maintaining a professional production practice.
Workhouse Arts Center fosters an active artistic community where artists can create, exhibit, and grow their practice in a supportive and highly visible environment.
Artists interested in applying are encouraged to contact the Artist Liaison with any questions regarding studio availability, rent, requirements, or lease terms before submitting an application.
