Granny Graffiti Workshop with Carole Loeffler

What would graffiti look like if it were made by a grandmother? That’s the question at the heart of Granny Graffiti, the public art practice created by Philadelphia artist Carole Loeffler. Using vintage doilies and simple materials, Loeffler began stitching small affirmations—”It’s OK,” “Stay Strong,” “We are OK”—and installing them on telephone poles and in public spaces as quiet offerings to strangers. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own Granny Graffiti piece to take home or install wherever feels meaningful to you: a telephone pole in your neighborhood, a spot near your office, anywhere a small message might land for someone who needs it.
