A cage so light [you hardly feel it]

This collection of work explores themes of watching yourself being watched, how our behavior changes when we know we are being observed, and how easily our private lives can be recorded and documented. This non-tangible pressure literally changes our physical shapes, choices, lives, and thoughts. This work also explores how our bodies contain our “selves”: our emotions, thoughts, dreams, and experiences, and how that containment experience varies.

The opening reception is Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Along with the exhibit, Samael Leopold-Sullivan will be offering multiple workshops in flameworking, encaustic, and more.

July 30, 5–9 p.m.: Flameworked Hollow Vessels for Tiny Precious Objects.

August 13, 5–8 p.m.: Tiny Homes for Precious Objects: Make and Take Workshop. This workshop made possible by the Minneapolis Cultural Districts Arts Fund.

August 30, 1–5 p.m.: Flameworked Hollow Vessels for Tiny Precious Objects.

September 20th, 1–5 p.m.: Encaustic Image Transfer onto Glass.
