Development Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Development
Classification: 30 hours a week, hourly
Salary: $30 per hour with benefits
Location: Remote, with periodic travel required. Preference for candidate near Baltimore, Atlanta, Milwaukee or Racine
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with occasional nights and weekends

Position summary.
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the fundraising and donor engagement efforts of the American Craft Council. This role serves as an important point of connection between ACC and its community of supporters, requiring exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong written communication. The ideal candidate is proactive, a positive team player, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and excited to contribute to a mission-driven national nonprofit working to strengthen the future of American Craft.

- Work with the Director of Development to complete 10–25 grants and coordinate reports each year.
- Maintain a grants calendar including application, reporting due dates and other necessary key deadlines.
- File, track, and maintain all grant documents including applications, award letters, contracts, payments, communications and expenses in an organized manner that is accessible to relevant staff via the shared Google Drive.
- Track donor information, grant awards and pledged payments in Salesforce.

- Contribute to the department’s annual fundraising plans and budgeting, and collaborate on the development of fundraising strategies, processes, and procedures.
- Assist the Director of Development with writing and editing appeals and other development mailings.
- Schedule development meetings and trips for the Executive Director and Director of Development
- Assist with donor and Board of Trustees events and meetings, including creating event lists, tracking RSVPs, creating event materials such as nametags, helping create the run-of-show for events, and helping with catering and other materials needed.
- Working with the development director to conduct individual and grant prospect research.

- Use the Salesforce database to process gift entries, maintain donor records, build reports, pull donor and foundation lists, create and manage development campaigns, and create Development project or event mail lists.
- Manage the GiveLively and GiveMN platforms, used for web-based donations.
- Create donor acknowledgment letters weekly, including pulling a gift report, mail merging recent gifts with the acknowledgment letter template, printing, and sending.
- Maintain up-to-date acknowledgment letter templates with assistance from the Executive Director.
- Create and maintain donor reports and dashboards in Salesforce

- Assist with ACC events including in-person marketplaces, donor events, and community gatherings. This includes traveling to local and national events as required and occasional weekend hours. Duties assigned may include set-up, take-down, and customer service.
- Provide customer service to our donors through service calls and emails. Help other ACC staff by providing backup customer service to our members and the general public as needed.
Desired qualifications.
- 3+ years of professional experience supporting fundraising or development operations, or supporting general nonprofit administration.
- 3+ years experience providing customer/constituent service. Membership organization experience is a plus.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability/willingness to take initiative.
- Strong relationship-building AND interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a nimble and collaborative way.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom, and Salesforce (or a comparable CRM) is required. Candidates should also be comfortable learning and adapting to additional workplace platforms, including Airtable and Slack.
- Demonstrated interest in craft, visual arts, nonprofit cultural organizations, or the broader creative sector, with enthusiasm for ACC’s mission and community.

- This position can be fully remote, and candidates from across the country are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates near Baltimore, Atlanta, Milwaukee or Racine
- Periodic travel required (approximately 2–6 times annually) for conferences, events, and organizational meetings.
- This position may occasionally require standing for extended periods and lifting materials weighing up to 20 pounds while supporting ACC events and programs.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
