In this practical and supportive workshop, you’ll learn how to bring your unique artistic vision to life through compelling grant applications. This session will help you understand the essentials of grant writing and will make the process approachable and manageable. We will cover:
- Telling Your Story: Learn how to communicate the essence of your craft in a way that connects with readers. We’ll focus on how to authentically share your vision, your process, and the impact of your work.
- Work Samples: Explore how to choose work samples that showcase your work and provide a clear representation of your creative process and accomplishments.
- Budgeting: Understand how to build a budget that tells a story, showing exactly what you need to make your vision a reality.
- Finding the Right Fit: We’ll explore how to choose grant opportunities that align with your goals and how to think of the grant writing process as part of your strategic growth as a creative.
- Practical Writing Tips: Get clear, actionable advice on writing proposals that are concise, engaging, and easy to follow.
We will talk about making grant writing feel like an extension of your craft. You’ll walk away with tools, practices, and the confidence to apply for funding to support and expand your creative practice.
About the instructor
Betsy Altheimer
Betsy Altheimer is a coach, fundraising consultant, writer, visual artist, collaborator and strategic advisor. She thrives on supporting transformational change in individuals and nurturing vital, responsive, healthy organizations, networks and communities.
She is certified by the International Coaching Federation as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and trained in Executive Coaching at the University of Saint Thomas. She continues to study somatic and embodied leadership with Coaches Rising, Generative Somatics, and the Strozzi Institute. She holds a B.A. in visual art from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and studied nonprofit management at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work combines leadership coaching and organizational strategy to align purpose, build clarity, and momentum.
Betsy has raised over $50 Million for racial and economic justice, arts and culture, design, community development, health, environmental, and education organizations. It is her greatest joy to partner with inspiring humans as they do incredible things.
