Family Workshop: Pinch Pot Pumpkins
American Museum of Ceramic Art
Pomona, California
October 3, 2026
Fall is fast approaching and so is the spooky season! Join AMOCA this October to build your own ceramic pumpkin to last you through many Halloweens to come! In this one-day pottery class, you’ll learn how to hand-build and decorate your very own pumpkin, perfectly sized to hold a tea light and glow throughout the month.
Guided by a friendly instructor, you’ll shape your jack-o’-lantern from clay, carve out your design, and give it a personality that’s uniquely yours. You’ll add holes, patterns, and designs that, when lit from within, cast the most beautiful warm glow. Finish up your pumpkin with a variety of colorful glazes and our team will handle the rest.
This class is perfect for beginners, pottery enthusiasts, and anyone looking for Halloween activities that are creative, festive, and fun. You’ll create a handmade jack-o’-lantern that will light up your home for many spooky seasons to come.
Workshop tickets are $55 per person ($40 for Pomona Residents or AMOCA Museum Members); registration includes instruction, materials, and firing, and admission to the museum the day of the workshop.
AMOCA’s family workshops are for all ages and everyone is welcome! Both adults and children will be given supplies to participate in the art project.
We recommend wearing clothes that can get a bit muddy, or bringing your own apron.
All participants will be provided clay and tools. We’ll fire your pumpkin in the AMOCA Studio and notify you when it’s ready for pickup, usually about 2 weeks after the workshop.
