Mudtools‘ mission is to put indispensable tools in the hands of clay artists. Born from artist Michael Sherrill’s need for the perfect tools in his own studio. Michael designed one tool after another, slowly perfecting each tool in different areas of his craft. His polymer ribs were the starting spark that grew into a full line of ceramic tools.

Mudtools is now a family-owned business that has grown to employ 20 people in the mountains of western North Carolina. We are committed to designing tools that perform at the highest level, feel right in the hand, and please the eye. We believe the best tools are the ones reached for first. The ones that become indispensable to your work because they simply do their job well.

Our promise to the clay community is this: We will only make tools we would want in our own studios. Tools shaped by working artists, refined through use, and built from materials chosen to get better with time. Whether you are hand building or throwing, soft clay or firm, we are here to empower your artistic vision and practice.
