About this opportunity

CAFAC will select one early career and one mid-career artist for its 2026 Studio Residency. Artists will choose a supported medium as their focus.

The residency includes four months of studio work (July–October) and a fifth month (November) for a culminating project, such as an exhibition, workshop, or public artwork. Residents may also take a class during the program. CAFAC provides space, training, and resources to support artistic growth, independent work, and expanded economic opportunity, while honoring traditional processes and encouraging innovation.

Early career artists have 2–10 years of experience and are developing their voice and professional path. Mid-career artists have at least five years of exhibition history and an established body of work.

Applicants must reside in the U.S., provide a tax ID, and live in the Twin Cities during the residency. Housing is not provided. Underrepresented artists are strongly encouraged to apply.
