About this opportunity
Hal Bromm is excited to announce an open call to artists for the 2026 edition of THE GIFT OF ART. Since the 1980’s, THE GIFT OF ART has been an annual holiday tradition at Hal Bromm, where artists are invited to create unique, saleable artworks as ornaments to adorn the gallery tree. Often these had overtly political themes or statements that challenged the usual sugar plums and Christmas angels as appropriate ornaments to trim the holiday tree.
Last year’s edition featured over 100 handmade ornaments by over 60 artists from around the globe. This year, we are expanding THE GIFT OF ART to include artist-made prints, so you can have the gift of art in your home year round. Both the ornaments and the prints will be for sale at Hal Bromm throughout the month of December, with 30% of the proceeds going to benefit Rehabilitation Through the Arts, in their mission to help people in prison develop critical life skills through the arts, modeling an approach to the justice system based on human dignity rather than punishment.
Interested artists should complete the open call form by October 1, 2026. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Artists are welcome to submit to one, or both categories of work. Each artist may submit up to 3 ornaments and 2 prints for consideration. Artists will be notified of their acceptance no later than October 10, 2026.
