Design historian Beverly Payeff Masey will document the intersection of post-World War II American modernism with the international political and cultural realities of the Cold War through her talk, "Designing America's Face in the Cold War." Payeff-Masey will present the work of Buckminister Fuller, Charles and Ray Eames, Chermayeff & Geismar, and George Nelson as well as other design professionals as organized and coordinated by her late husband Jack Masey. Masey worked on behalf of the United States International Agency in creating the American presence at international expos and World's Fairs beginning in 1958.

This lecture will use images from the Masey Archives, which grew out of Jack Masey's private collection as director of design for the United States Information Agency during the height of the Cold War.
