Drawing on Identity: Edward Eberle and Kevin Snipes
5 – 6 p.m.
Help us celebrate the launch of American Craft Council’s new journal, American Craft Inquiry. Michael Radyk, journal editor and ACC’s director of education, will share information on the new biannual publication, which will feature in-depth essays, exhibition reviews, and more. Following the reception, hear Pittsburgh ceramists Edward Eberle and Kevin Snipes in conversation with Clay Studio curator Jennifer Zwilling. They’ll discuss their work and the importance of drawing in their respective practices.
After receiving his MFA from Alfred University in 1972, Edward Eberle taught at the Philadelphia College of Art and at Carnegie-Mellon University for 14 years. He then worked as a studio artist in ceramics and drawing for 26 years. In addition to numerous one-man shows, his work is represented in at least 25 museum collections.
Kevin Snipes received a BFA in ceramics and drawing from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1994, and he concluded graduate studies at the University of Florida in 2003. Snipes has been awarded numerous awards, artist residencies, grants, and fellowships. Snipes has exhibited both nationally and internationally – as far away as Jingdezhen, China.
