Jane Lackey

Jane Lackey, ACC Fellow

Minesh Bacrania

Visual artist and ACC Fellow Jane Lackey has used multiple processes, surfaces, and mark-making systems to summon invisible aspects of identity and connection. Her lecture will focus on the conceptual and material substance of marks as both individual and collective signifiers. Inspired by scientific curiosity, the chemistry of physical sensation, reductive micro-pathways of mapping, and durational spatial experience, Lackey will discuss how recent works trace illusive spatial information and communication, first as mapped schema on paper and then as enveloping installations that align place with audience interaction.

This presentation is sponsored in partnership with the Surface Design Association. This event is open to the public as well as conference attendees. Note: This talk will be held in the Shattuck Auditorium at Portland State University.

Also, don't miss the opportunity to see "Jane Lackey: A Space to Enter" an exhibition of her works on paper. The show is up through August 6, 2017, and there's a reception with the artist on August 4, prior to the keynote, from 5-6 p.m. at the Autzen Gallery in Neuberger Hall.
