Artist Leo Monahan will demonstrate the basic techniques of paper sculpture and discuss the use of symbolism to communicate ideas. Inspired by Bauhaus design and color principles, as well as Japanese and Chinese paper arts, Monahan was the first recipient of the Disney Scholarship to Chouinard Art Institute in the early 1950s. He has earned numerous professional accolades and has a paper sculpture in the Smithsonian's permanent collection.
