Learn the basics of sashiko with teacher Sandy Maxfield. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique using stunning geometric patterns. In this class, you will create two coasters with traditional sashiko patterns. Along the way, you will also learn about the history of sashiko and how to draft your own sashiko projects. Sashiko stitching is wonderful for embellishing home textiles and clothing. A class kit will be provided with sashiko thread and needle plus project fabric. Students should bring scissors for snipping threads.
