Announcing the Winners of the 2017 Emerging Voices Awards
The American Craft Council is thrilled to announce the 2017 Emerging Voices Awards winning artist and scholar, as well as our shortlist artists. In 2015 the ACC introduced the Emerging Voices Awards to recognize and celebrate the incredible talents of these stars who contribute to craft with their hands, minds, and creative spirits.
From a pool of qualified makers nominated by their peers and mentors, five artists and one scholar were selected as finalists for the Emerging Voices Awards by a panel of jurors. This year's top honors go to:

Sarah Parrish, PhD candidate, Boston University
Shortlist Artists
Hannah Batsel, paper
Ted Lott, wood
Anna Mlasowsky, glass
Gerardo Monterrubio, ceramics
Thank to our outstanding jury panel: Karen Hampton, textile artist; Jiseon Lee Isbara, dean of academic affairs and associate professor, Oregon College of Art and Craft; Michael Radyk, ACC director of education; and T’ai Smith, associate professor, University of British Columbia, and 2015 Emerging Scholar.
The Emerging Artist and the Emerging Scholar each receive $10,000 toward their work and research, while the shortlist artists each receive $1,000. The ACC will be produce a catalogue highlighting the work of all six honorees, and it will include an essay by director of education Michael Radyk.
