Make Room Designer Spotlight: Laura Hodges
American Craft Show in Baltimore, 2017
What's the name of your design firm? Laura Hodges Studio
What's your favorite design tip?
Mixing styles, finishes, and materials is much more timeless and visually appealing than matching everything.
What decade did you select and why?
I selected the 1960s because it was a decade full of social change, creative expression, and innovative new design. So many design elements from that time are still relevant and fresh today – from modern furniture pieces and open airy interiors to internationally sourced textiles and bold, vibrant colors.
What is your vision for the space?
I want to create a vignette that takes inspiration from the '60s' bold use of color and pattern and blends it with a modern sophistication for a beautiful, livable space.
What attracted you to the craft objects you’re featuring in your vignette?
The set of cups has a great design and color combination. Their shape feels modern but handcrafted. I love the movement in the [glass] piece. It feels very sculptural, and the colors blend beautifully.
