Marvalina
& Abbie Chambers
I find my subject matter for my fabrics in abandon and deteriorating spaces. Because these spaces have been left to crumble on their own, the texture and colors created by the passing of time are viscerally stimulating. They become the raw resources for my bespoke textile collection. In the studio, I use a potato paste resist to express these textures onto cloth. Additionally, I incorporate both hand-painted work and a shibori technique called itajame in my clothing collection.
