I have been making pots since I was an undergraduate studying economics at Cornell University in the late 60’s and early 70’s. I have been making my living as a studio potter since 1975. I use a potter’s wheel to throw simple pots influenced by a western sense of proportion primarily for serving food. . In my glazing I try to create complex timeless surfaces like lichen on granite--not flat color. I use intense saturated color while trying to convey a sense of dignity, reserve and serenity.
