Geneslaw's carved and painted humorous wood vignettes comment with tongue in cheek on the Me Too movement, gender inequality, racial inequality, the Trump administration, and sexual mythology. Inspiration is drawn from the news and daily life. Her work appears amusing on the surface, but further examination reveals an underlying comment on some aspect of the human condition.
Strasser, using wood, plastic, paper and metal, works to capture the elusive meaning of being human. She seeks to describe humankind with a concise, adaptable, universal symbol that represents both the multitudes and the individual. She tries to capture that one element of individuality that exists in each of us.
