American Craft Wins Folio and MMPA Awards
For magazines, it’s awards season, and American Craft has raked in more than a dozen honors in recent competitions.
The magazine published by the American Craft Council was awarded first place for overall excellence in the national Folio competition, the largest in magazine publishing. It’s the third time in five years that American Craft has taken the top spot in the nonprofit association category, beating out AARP, Nature Conservancy, and National Geographic Traveler, among other competitors. The winning issue was February/March 2017, which focused on wood. In the Folio contest, American Craft also earned an honorable mention for overall design.
American Craft won 15 awards in the Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association’s annual competition. The magazine swept two categories – winning gold, silver, and bronze awards – for feature design and profile articles. The judges recognized profiles of Leonardo Drew, Patrick Dougherty, and Nika Feldman for their excellence. Honored for design were stories on Yuni Kim Lang, Nika Feldman, and Christopher Kurtz.
American Craft won gold awards in three other categories: editor’s letter, feature article, and overall design. In addition, the magazine won silver and bronze awards for video, editor’s letter, and overall excellence.
