We’ve got glass on our minds, given the October/November issue of American Craft is all about the medium. Since there may be nothing cozier than curling up with a fire on a cold holiday weekend, we thought a fiery visual feast was in order: a collection of hot-glass videos from the Corning Museum of Glass.

Founded in 1951, CMOG is dedicated to the preservation and education of the art, history, and technology of glass. The museum houses a vast collection of art and historical glass, as well as a research library, glass laboratories, and demonstration venues. The museum’s Amphitheater Hot Shop is the setting for daily glassblowing demonstrations, and many of these demonstrations are live-streamed or recorded.

You can watch Finnish glassmakers Helena Welling and Juha Saarikko create fantastic bird designs in a one-hour live session, observe a flameworking master class and tour with Cesare Toffolo, and learn how iridescence is achieved through a process called fuming. More than 800 videos on a wide variety of glass topics are available, and new material is added often.
