Make Room Designer Spotlight: Quinn Morgan
American Craft Show in San Francisco
What's your company name? Quinn Morgan Design
What's your favorite design tip?
The way we see color is dependent on light; so, a painted wall will look different to your eye at different times of day. Before committing to a color, paint a poster board. Move it to different walls at various times of the day and evening to see if you love it in every light.
What color did you choose and why?
I chose the color teal: radiant, dramatic, and emotional. It is a color that compels the eye and lifts the spirits. It makes a person look more beautiful in the space. I imagine that its compelling nature is because of its constitution (blue/green) – the color of the Earth’s water from above; the primary constitution of our own chemistry.
What’s your vision for the space?
My vision for the space is a receiving room. The concept of Make Room resonates with my design ethos, which is to create rooms that allow people to live their best lives. A receiving room represents both the host and guests. It is a communal space that evolves and changes with the conversations and the people. As this is a public space, I wanted to create an intimate space that would welcome everyone and support the flow of connection and conversation.
Who are your ACC show artist picks and why are you featuring those particular objects?
Tom Boardman, Joe Graci, and Agelio Batle. All of the pieces that I have selected speak to motion. Like water, each one evokes the flow and energy of life.
