What's the name of your design firm? The Wish List Antiques & Interiors

What decade did you select and why?
I’m inspired by 1970s style right now, both in fashion and interior design. I feel like there was a “lightening and brightening” occurring. Organic elements played a pivotal role in design, allowing for a casual, airy aesthetic. Large floral and geometric prints added a cheerful and dramatic style, which characterized the decade.

What is your vision for the space?
The Wish List’s style is eclectic modern, and that is our vision for the ACC space as well. We’ll infuse design elements and textures that embody the 1970s bohemian-chic style in a comfortable yet classy setting, while allowing art and accessories to shine.

What attracted you to the craft objects you’re featuring in your vignette?
With an eye to the advances made in the 1970s by the women’s liberation movement and the prominence of performance art as a method of self-expression for women, I was attracted to sculptural objects that reflect women’s changing roles in a literal sense. Crafts made with natural fibers and materials, which connote the back-to-nature, conservationist attitudes after the oil crisis, are well suited to The Wish List’s vision of a 1970s space.

What's your favorite design tip?
Vintage and antique objects can add the character and interest that will showcase your style and take your home from generic to vibrant.
